Adopting a Rhodesian Ridgeback necessitates that you should have opportunities to make the dog happy. They need a loving family and an owner that is able to provide enough activity for the dog. Rhodesian ridgebacks require a large fenced yard and an opportunity to walk at least once a day. Such dogs should not be left alone for a long time because they become bored and destructive.To adopt a dog every prospective owner has to fill out an application and pay a small adoption fee. Prior to finding a permanent home, a rescued dog lives in a foster family. It is necessary to rehabilitate and evaluate the dog, especially if it has been abused and neglected by the previous owner. Dogs with biting records and showing any signs of aggression cannot be adopted. All dogs available for adoption are checked for various diseases and are spayed or neutered to reduce the unwanted pets' overpopulation. When adopting a dog remember that there are little perfect dogs in rescue organizations. Often rescue dogs have behavioral or health problems or are rather old. The advantage of such dogs is that you don't have to housetrain them. Elderly Rhodesian Ridgebacks are very loyal, faithful and grateful, they don't demand much exercise and short walks will do all right for them.
