These dogs will not tolerate being left alone, or tied up outside, they become bored and destructive. The breed got its name because of the ridge of hair along the back. It consists of two symmetrical crowns and is formed by the hair growing in the opposite direction.

The breed was developed for lion hunting and has typical traits, which are valuable for this activity: the dogs are independent, strong-willed, athletic, agile, but sometimes stubborn and tending to dominate.
