Read the official standard for the Ridgeback and make sure the sire and the dam have necessary breed characteristics. The puppies should be vaccinated and socialized. Keep in mind that responsible breeders will not sell the puppies until they are two months of age.

As some kennels have long waiting lists, they do not usually advertise their puppies. So, the best way to find a good breeder is to contact breed clubs and ask for breeders’ lists. Contact as many breeders as possible to make the best puppy choice. The pet classifieds will list rescues along with the kennels if they have available dogs.
